Inpatient Addiction Treatment Overland Park

Treatment for substance abuse starts when you admit that you have a problem and are willing to get help. Seeking professional addiction treatment feels like a daunting task, and you are bound to wonder what exactly to expect. A small part of you also worries about your job and how people view you.

First of all, understand that you are not alone. According to research, about 20 million people seek treatment for substance abuse annually. Treatment for substance abuse has various levels of care and depending on your needs, you can move up or down.

Levels of Care

Every patient has specific needs; others may need inpatient care while others require part-time outpatient settings. Others will need both types but at different times. Any drug and alcohol treatment center maintains a standard of care as prescribed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

General levels of treatment define the continuum of care. The flexible treatment system differentiates which patients can enter which level. The aim is to ensure every patient gets the required level of treatment. Depending on the client’s needs, the intensity level can shift up or down.

Early Intervention Treatment

At this level, education, counseling, and resources are given to adolescents and adults at risk but do not meet the diagnostic criteria. This program may misuse drugs or alcohol, but it has not progressed to addiction.

Outpatient Treatment

For this level, the adults require 9 hours a week while teens need 6 hours per week. The regular schedules are done in a sobriety and recovery center or physician’s office by trained clinicians or addiction professionals. The care includes assessment, treatment, and recovery. Outpatient treatment offers group and individual counseling, medical treatment, relapse prevention programs, and drug and alcohol awareness. It is suitable for people with tight schedules and a robust support system.

Intensive Partial Hospitalization or Outpatient Treatment

For intensive outpatient treatment, the recommended duration is three months. IoT programs offer similar services as outpatient programs, and the significant difference is that the IoT offers more counseling. The treatment can be offered anywhere in a setting that meets the certification or licensure criteria.

Treatment is formulated to meet the needs of patients with comorbid and addiction conditions. Patients can attend the program during the day, evening, or weekend.

In partial hospitalization services, more hours are required per week, which involves partially staying at the treatment center.

Residential Treatment

The patient is in the rehab facility in drug rehab and inpatient alcohol rehab centers until treatment is over. The duration of stay depends on the severity of the patient’s condition and treatment needs. During the program, mental health addiction treatment and health personnel are available for round-the-clock treatment.

There is a low-intensity treatment where teens and adults stay in a residential setting. In adult-only level settings, 24-hour care is designed to stabilize danger among patients with impairments and other cognitive disabilities. In this setting, there is less social and group treatment.

Aftercare

Drug and alcohol abuse is challenging to treat since they are customized based on the patients. Once you have gone through treatment in rehab centers in Kansas, you need to continue with recovery, which can be achieved by joining support groups in an area near you.
