Ongoing research on addiction treatment is giving new insights into drug treatment. There is a need to individualize the treatment program for each patient instead of relying on a one-fits-all approach. Detoxification remains the first step in drug treatment. Ideally done under medical supervision, it enables the body to clear the drugs. The consequential withdrawal is managed to ease the symptoms until they subside. Detox as a service is available in any sobriety and recovery center and takes anywhere from one to ten days. After overcoming the physical problems, the focus shifts to addiction’s physiological, behavioral, and social side. The goal is to produce changes to support recovery and lifelong sobriety. An assessment typically follows the detox and depending on the severity of the addiction, and these are the programs suggested:

Inpatient Rehab: The most common offering in rehab centers in Kansas, residential rehab, allows a dedicated team to guide patients through structured recovery processes. Patients reside within the treatment centers for a period ranging from three months to up to one year.

Outpatient Rehab: Where residency is not an option either because of cost or other commitments such as school, work, or family, outpatient rehab is the sensible alternative. Outpatient programs have varying degrees of intensity, depending on the amount of care a patient needs.

In both programs, some mainstay treatment approaches that we offer include:

Therapy: Every professional addiction treatment center builds upon a foundation of therapy at an individual, group, and family level. This three-tier level has been demonstrated to be most successful in helping patients understand their addiction, socializing them, and rebuilding significant ties in their lives.

Pharmacotherapy: Medications suppress cravings and enable the transition to sobriety by managing withdrawal symptoms. They are also used in managing co-occurring health conditions.

CBT– Cognitive behavioral therapy dives into the conscious and subconscious mind of the patient to understand and address their misbehavior. CBT aims to instill coping skills, increase awareness, and find serenity within so that recovery sticks.

Contingency Management: Effective in managing substance abuse, CM is meant to assist the patient in maintaining sobriety. More importantly, it helps them stick through the program to allow sufficient time to work.

Dialectal Behavioral Therapy: A variant of CBT, DBT teaches mindfulness and addresses interpersonal conflicts. It is essential in treating personality disorders, a common co-occurring mental condition for addicts.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: EDMR is a drug and alcohol treatment center that aims at addressing any past traumas that may have fueled a reliance on a mind-altering substance. It aims at restoring positive emotional health.

Matrix Model: This structured behavioral treatment model employs evidence-based techniques to overcome substance abuse. It rewards good behavior, encourages self-help, and aims to prevent relapse in the short and long term.

12 Step Facilitation: The 12 step program in drug rehab and inpatient alcohol rehab is meant to promote abstinence after being discharged. There is a proliferation of peer support groups that use the 12 steps as the foundation for their continuous recovery.
